Dressing Kinova

Draping and movement tests on a robotic arm reveal how fabric behaves around joints, pinch points, and changing poses.

Dressing Kinova project
01

Prototype at full scale

Working directly on the robot exposes constraints that sketches cannot: fabric bunches, catches, stretches, and changes the silhouette as the arm moves.

02

Design considerations

Ease, drape, hang, donning, doffing, access to components, and physical interference all shape whether clothing supports or obstructs the robot.

03

What it contributes

The prototypes translate clothing knowledge into practical specifications for robot designers and create new ways for a robot to signal role and state.
